Your courage to serve, while navigating layers of identity that aren’t always seen or acknowledged, inspires us every day. Thank you for your bravery, both in uniform and in the journey of self. We see you, we honor you, and we remain in solidarity with you. 💜 🏳️‍⚧️ 2016 was my first year on testosterone and my last in the military. I joined in 2007, always pushing myself to stand strong beside my fellow soldiers, even while hiding my true self. Being military police and playing All Army basketball allowed me to keep up while hiding parts of who I was. The military gave me resilience, but also reminded me of how my identity and skin color went unrecognized.
